Today's sermon was on being optimistic in a spiritual sense and in other realms of life as well. The sermon illustration basically can be summarized that we can either live by faith (optimism) or by fear (pessimism).

The pastor outlined four steps one could take to stay optimistic:
- The first 10 minutes of your day sets the tone (so spend 10 minutes in prayer, positive thought, etc.)
- Look for good in every situation.
- Eliminate negativism
- Remember your future (John 14:1-4)
“God can do immeasurably more than you can imagine” and if you can focus on God’s power and resources in your life it makes it easier to stay optimistic. (Ephesians 3:20)
During the sermon we watched a great video called Shockingly Negative I found it pretty entertaining and it was a funny reminder on what kind of small negativities can sneak into our everyday lives.
I decided to see what other research I could find on being optimistic vs. being pessimistic and here are some sites I found interesting, despite their validity (or invalidity) on the topic.
