I decided to post my "Do before I'm 30" list so that you, my friends, may help me seek opportunities in accomplishing my goals… however strange some of them may sound… or simply so you can give me some input or suggestions on my list… feel free to mock my list as I know that is what my family will be doing . Eventually I'd like to have 30 things to do before I turn 30, but I could only think of 26 for now... let me know if you have something you think I should add.
- Sing Karaoke—I'm terrified of singing in front of people, although I did have a solo in the church musical in High School and I was in the choir… I've never sang Karaoke and I think it would be a fun, however mortifying, experience. Done (May 2008)
- Shoot a gun—I feel like as an American Citizen and a 4th generation Idahoan…I had to throw that in there for Kristy…it is pretty sad that I have never shot a gun. I also feel I can't really determine what my stand is on gun control until I have had the privilege of using one. I don't have any desire to shoot a person or living thing, but target shooting would be an experience. Done (January 2008)

- Be asked out on a proper date by a guy—All the dates I have gone on have either been set-ups, I've asked the guy, or it was just some conclusion that the guy and I came to that we should go on a date. I would like to have someone get the nerve to just say, "I'd like to take you out sometime…" Is that too much to ask? Done
- Go on a vacation by myself—I'd like to go relax or see some tourist site by myself… I think it would be a good experience. A cruise by myself would be amazing, but that would never be in my budget… maybe a weekend in ...Sun Valley or something like that I could do. Done (April 2008)
- Make Crème' Brule—I've wanted to learn how to make Crème Brule for about 8 years now. However, about 9 years ago there was a little incident at my parents house when I was frying doughnuts, so now every time I mention I might buy a torch to make Crème Brule I get heckled at. Done (February 2008)
- Read the entire Bible—I always say I'm going to do this, but I have an issue just reading the Bible… let me explain. When I really start reading the Bible and processing it I have this desire to know what the original Hebrew or Greek word was in a particular passage or I compare multiple translations or I read every footnote and reference for a verse or I feel the need to find as many commentaries as possible on the topic mentioned. As a result of my weird compulsiveness to learn more than what is simply written on that one page reading the entire Bible becomes a daunting task, however it is one I feel I can accomplish.
- Weigh what I weighed in High School—this only made it on the list because this year is the year of my 10 year class reunion… I'm pretty sure I can meet this goal by the time summer rolls around.
- Buy a dress at Ann Taylor—a constant goal of mine, if I accomplish number 7 this would be do-able.
- Try snow boarding—I've always wanted to, but I'm afraid my butt would get cold…I'm sure I'd be on the ground most of the time.
- By the time I'm 30 I would like to have been kissed.
- Go rock climbing—As a kid my favorite thing to do was climb the tree in the front of our house… I was thinking about how I miss that and came to the conclusion that the only thing for a woman in her 20's to do that is relatively the same would be to rock climb. So now I need to figure out how to rock climb without killing myself.
- Go to Yellowstone National Park.
- See Mount Rushmore… after seeing National Treasure 2 this became a desire of mine.
- Learn to belly dance. I think it would be a good way to help build my muscle and get rid of the “extra” on that area of my body. (July/August 2008)
- Drink a shot. Just once, not something I’d probably do more than once. Done (May 2008)
- Go to Northeast America during autumn to see the leaves change.
- Keep a house plant alive.
- Enter something into a competition and win. I’m thinking about entering Huckleberry Jam or making a quilt for the State Fair.
- Stop biting my fingernails… I think this one is pretty self explanatory. Done (April 2008… started biting again May 2008)
- Learn to play at least one song on the guitar. I’ve owned one for some time now and I can tune it, but have yet to get a song down because my fingers start hurting too much.
- Learn to ballroom dance. Done (January 2008)
- Take square dancing lessons Done (May-June 2008)
- Learn another song on the harmonica—Yes, I do own a harmonica… a nice one. I can play O' Susanna and that is it… I think I should learn at least one more song to justify the ownership of such a nice harmonica.
- Take a painting class—I've been dabbling in painting since college. I would like to take a watercolor or oil painting class sometime to see if it's something I could be good at.
- Learn to fly a plane. Why not?
- Master my Great Grandmother’s potato doughnut recipe. (Done 7/17/08)
- Learn to play chess.
