I’m exhausted, worn-out, spread thin, and my brain won’t stop spinning with ideas but despite all of this I have decided I truly love my job. I’m thriving on the challenge of balancing web publishing, student council advising, SYOP coordination, and daily teaching responsibilities. I even found myself today expressing to a colleague how much I actually like my class of 38… the class I had to order last week to come to class with NO materials in order to clear the floor of the hazards of binders and books laying all over. Now I provide pencils, paper, etc. for this class of students and a place in the room for them to store work in progress. This is also the class I’m using my coach whistle in when we need to transition between cooperative work and direct instruction.
I enjoy interacting with all of my students and watching them get excited about what we are learning and the activities I’ve planned. I look forward to getting through the fluff of starting the year and getting to the meat of the content I teach… I’m particularly interested in the challenge of getting 38 6th graders into the cooking lab to work together to complete a recipe… that should be an entertaining day. :)
Well I better wrap up this blog entry and get to bed so tomorrow I’ll have all it takes to positively influence the pre-teens and teenagers I get the privilege to educate.
